Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Second iteration of motor mount plate ready for machine work
Hardware for motors purchased
Design for Hydrophone isolation done, machine work started
Design for volume constraint plate done (to rec-create computer board roof)
Ball screw ready for installation
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Designed motor plate and mounting plates for testing (Hannah)
Ball screw machined to size (Hannah)
Design changes made for sandwich mounts on all Al rods (Hannah, Hurby)
Machined new Aluminum support rods (Hurby, Ilija)
Gears finally came in!!
Final report make over - feedback incorporations started
Testing apparatus complete
Machine work of piston complete
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Continue testing: compare 3 motors on speed, noise, efficiency (Hurby, Ilija)
Vibrational Damping testing: no mounts vs. grommets vs. all sandwich mounts (Hannah)
Compare efficiency of ball screw & lead screw (Devin)
Build hydrophone isolation structure (Myles)
Finish volume constraint plate (Myles)

Jules & Paul approve with isolating hydrophone as long as waterproof integrity is maintained
Jules & Paul approve of sandwich mounts on all aluminum rods
Jules & Paul approve of trading out 1/6 power for speed & decreased vibrations

Addressed
Ideas for mechanical stop on ball screw:
2 nuts jammed against each other with blue locktite
c clip (probably better option) - this option was incorporated into ball screw machine work
To be resolved:
Finals Report (working on)
Use caption & cross reference for tables/figures (insert-->captions)
Make figures more readable.
Once decide on final design, put alternate design solutions in appendix
Use metric units
Deliverables: Add materials, tests, data, calculations
Quantify things you're trying to achieve instead of saying "make it faster"
use bullet points for functional requirements
more annotative pictures
add preliminary designs to appendix
put why the ball screw is beneficial
use 'inexpensive' instead of cheap
Section IV: Make them into bullet points
annotate grommets, make references to your figures
Safety section topics: getting someone hurt, environmental harm, reward from marketing, add a specific benefit and how it would impact society
put experiences under lessons learned
Conclusion section: tasks and how well your device works
Quantifying sound recorded on hydrophone: use LabVIEW FFT, talk to Isaiah to acquire a DAQ board
Isolation of top plate: use sandwich mounts on 2 inner rods. Find small sandwich mounts; machining current mounts smaller is not a good idea.
