Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
3D print of Car and Penguin models done
Problem with getting suction cup to seal well
Looking to finalize designs
Accomplishments from Previous Week
2nd prototype of interlock design (Penguin shape) was printed
Lid needs slight tweaking
Finger slot needs more space for easy release
Eating areas need to be more rounded
Suction cup needs a way to seal correctly (threaded hole leaks air)
1st prototype of snap on design (Car shape) was printed
Dimensions need work: eating area, space for suction cup
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Ebrahim - Fix Car model
Jinfeng - Find alternative suction cups that may fix seal problem
Nima - Update budget
Emmanuel - 3D print Penguin (Delivered by Monday of week 8)

Wants to still work on both designs
Believes both designs can be brought to market
Emphasized the importance of working suction cup
Considered colors for Penguin (baby blue tray, white or clear lid?)
Clear lid would allow consumer to see the inside of the tray while inside packaging on the shelf
Opaque lid would look more aesthetically pleasing
Would like to see colored prototype, or prototype with smoother surface
Voiced concern about ability to draw on the lid with dry erase markers

Excellent CAD and annotation
Great progress on prototype
Get an estimate for molds for designs (Better to get feedback now)
Create cost breakdown: Material, Suction cup, Mold
Like the design but lid is still a challenge (on penguin). It is not obvious or easy to take lid on or off
Maybe relax the requirement of the flat lid => open up possibilities (eg. knob)
Comments from Other Students in the Class (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Lid design
Tray should have face, even without lid
Lid design that can be interchangeable with other designs (not just with the penguin)
If snap-on lid is tough to take off => might cause food to go everywhere
Multiple lids
Prototype lid with thermoform (0.01" PVC)
Suction cup seal issues
Teflon/nylon tape
Loctite (look on website for correct type)
O-ring
Recessed metal nut in base
Finger hold size concerns
Risks and Areas of Concern
Lid design for Snap-on
Suction cup sealing well
Modify threads, extrusion design, new suction cup

Schedule
3D print penguin in Week 7
Update Gantt chart.
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
$698 remaining
Need to update with suction cup purchase, probably around $30
About 20 cubic inches left of 3D print material
Progress on Report and Webpage
Starting next draft of report
