We'll meet twice a month in the same place: Room 309 in Speech and Hearing Science (1131 E 2nd St, Building 71). The time will be 11am-Noon, on the first and third Fridays of each month. This time has the advantage of being right before the Cog Sci Colloquium on Friday in the same building. Room 309 is equipped with 2 48" monitors mounted near the ceiling. HDMI and VGA connectors are available to hook up a laptop for presentation (VGA always works, HDMI is weird). Note the disadvantage of this system is that the images your audience sees are somewhat smaller than if they were projected onto a screen. In addition, you cannot effectively point at the screens with a laser pointer.

Dec 1: Our final meeting of the year, December 1 will be a dual holiday gathering (i.e., there will be snacks) and an update on coming attractions for 2018 in imaging. See pictures of the new scanner facilities. Meet Andy Rouse, the new director of imaging operations (human and animal). Get the latest word on important dates. Let's discuss MR scanners, TMS, fNIRS, MEG and the future of core support for scanning (BIDS, Containerized apps, people). All students and faculty are strongly encouraged to attend so that everyone is on the same page concerning current developments and those anticipated for the near future.

Scanner Move Plans
The 3T scanner (MR4) will be ramped down Dec 29, with the physical move of the magnet currently scheduled for Jan 10th. The magnet should be available for use for research after Friday Feb 23rd. These dates are what the building contractor and Siemans have worked out. Siemans has said they need 6 weeks to bring the magnet back up and to test it. Please optimize your scanning this semester to make allowances for this down time. We are currently running a little under average use, so there is time available.
The OCF scheduler will be replaced with iLab.
Manoj Saranathan will also be running pre- and post-move scans for the major scan types we acquire (e.g., fMRI, DTI, structural). It you want to have your protocols run in particular, please let your department’s representative to the MRI Operations Committee, Manoj, or me know soon.
We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you write out your current protocol from your experimental file on the scanner console and keep it so to insure it is still correct after the scanner moves. The operations committee is not responsible for insuring that the protocols of individual labs are correct.
