Hello! My name is Charles Lopez, and I am proud to serve as the Band Director at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Edison, New Jersey. I am a graduate of Edison High School and Montclair State University, and I began my teaching career in 2002 in South Brunswick.  In 2004, I returned to Edison, where I taught at Lincoln Elementary and Ben Franklin Elementary Schools until 2021 before joining the TJMS team.

I live in Metuchen with my wife, Lauren, and our two children, Elizabeth and Jonah. Outside of teaching, I help run the Janice Lopez Ovarian Cancer Foundation with my family in memory of my mother. (Learn more at www.jlocf.org). I have also served as an Emergency Medical Technician since 1994.

Musically, I continue to perform locally with the rock cover band The Commuters.
