Classroom Safety and Respect
Follow all safety expectations in the classroom.
Always handle your instrument and equipment carefully.
Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
Walk at all times—no running or throwing anything
Follow all teacher instructions promptly.
Remember: Safety first means everyone can enjoy making music!.
Be responsible for your actions and be respectful of others.
In the event of an evacuation, make a right out of the bandroom door, go out the exterior door, and make a left, taking the sidewalk all the way to the street
Rehearsal/Class Guidelines
Practice at least 3 days a week at home for a minimum of 15 minutes per session. (Choose your own days.)
No food, gum, AirPods, or cell phones during band class. Water is OK
Only play your own instrument. Do not use percussion instruments unless you are a percussionist.
When your section is not being worked with, quietly look ahead in your part.
Raise your hand if you have a question.
Stay in your seat unless you have permission to move.
No hands or feet, books, or computers on music stands.
Chromebooks should be used only for band-related activities.
Instruments go home on nights you practice and every weekend. Do not leave instruments at school over weekends or breaks.
In addition to daily band class, all band members must attend their before-school band rehearsal once per week from 7:30 am–8:10 am. (8th Grade band excluded this year)
If rules are not followed, the following system will be enforced:
First Offense: Verbal warning (depending on severity, parent contact or referral may occur).
Second Offense: Communication with parent/guardian.
Third Offense: Written referral.
Continued issues may result in removal from concerts, trips, and/or other band activities.
