From Coach Naylor:

East Mountains girls and boys teams dominated the District 2 Cross Country meet hosted by ATC in Santa Fe on Friday afternoon, sweeping both team titles as well as the individual titles.

The girls were lead by repeat district champion Addison Rauch who won the race with a time of 19:14, a personal best. The remaining girls were: Amira Cunningham, 3rd place 20:05, Tatianna Perlinski 4th place 20:34, Ella Chavez 12th place 22:06, Amanda Bishop 16th place 22:47, Maya Johnson 24th place 24:18, Amber Helvey 25th place 24:51, and Pearl Spear 31st place 28:44. The girls team score was 36 points, beating host ATC by 8 points.

The boys meanwhile, placed 6 of the top seven runners, missing a perfect score by only one runner--their score of 17 points easily bested 2nd place Tucumcari by 46 points. The team was paced by the 1st place finish if Alex Heffelfinger with a personal record of 16:37. The remaining boys members were: Andy Humphries 2nd 17:03, Alex McKee 3rd 17:28, Isaiah Padilla 5th 17:47, Ben Matins 6th 17:52, Ben Humphries 7th 18:14, Adam Benavides 10th 18:37, Noah D'Antonio 12th 19:03, and Tristan Turner 14th with a time of 19:34.

This race marks the first time in school history that both the boys and girls teams and individuals won at the same time.

Congrats all Timberwolves runners, good luck at state!
