The EPJH Cheerleading Team combines elements of dance and acrobatics, alongside enthusiastic chants and slogans, to entertain audiences at sporting events and encourage team spirit. Originally, it was primarily a sideline activity focused on supporting school sports teams. However, over time, the EPJH Cheerleading Team has evolved into a recognized sport in its own right and often takes place outside of traditional school settings. It is seen as a representation of school spirit, leadership, and youthful energy.
At EPJH, the cheerleading program typically serves as an extracurricular activity that encourages teamwork, physical fitness, and school spirit among students. The program often includes a mix of practice sessions, performances, and participation in school events, such as sports games and pep rallies.
Students in the cheerleading program usually learn a variety of skills, including stunts, cheers, chants, and dance routines. Practices might focus on building strength, coordination, and agility, while also fostering a sense of camaraderie among team members. Coaches or advisors, often teachers or parents, guide the students, ensuring they develop their skills while emphasizing safety during stunts and routines.
In addition to performing at pep rallies and games, the EPJH Cheerleading Team may also participate in competitions, showcasing their routines and teamwork against other schools. This aspect not only promotes a sense of achievement but also helps build confidence and leadership skills among the cheerleaders.
Tryouts for the EPJH Cheer Team for the upcoming school year are typically after spring break.
