ASSIGNMENTS

By December 8, 2017, students must complete at least four (4) career awareness and three (3) career exploration work-based learning strategies. (250 POINTS)

By May 11, 2018, students must complete two (2) career preparation strategies, and one (1) career training work-based strategy. (250 POINTS).

Work-based learning strategies include the following:

CAREER AWARENESS - 25 POINTS EACH

  1. Career Interest Assessment with reflection essay

  2. Workplace tour

  3. Guest speaker

  4. Career fair

  5. Visit parents at work

  6. School to Career (S2C) Research Activity

CAREER EXPLORATION - 50 POINTS EACH

  1. Informational interview

  2. Job shadow

  3. Virtual exchange with a partner

  4. Community service in a field of interest with reflection essay

  5. Career Exploration Activity (2 careers)

  6. Personal Career Profile (2 careers)

CAREER PREPARATION - 75 POINTS EACH

  1. Integrated project with multiple interactions with professionals

  2. Student-run enterprise with partner involvement

  3. Virtual enterprise or other extended online interactions with partners

  4. Projects with partners through industry student organizations (DECA, FBLA)

  5. Service learning and social enterprises with partners

  6. Compensated internship connected to curriculum

  7. Target a specific employer with cover letter, resume, references, and relevant work samples

CAREER TRAINING - 100 POINTS EACH

  1. Internship required for credential or entry to occupation

  2. Apprenticeship (Minimum 80 hours documented)

  3. Clinical experience (Minimum 80 hours documented)

  4. On-the-job training (Minimum 80 hours documented)

  5. Work experience (Minimum 80 hours documented)

  6. Volunteer work (Minimum 80 hours documented)
