Who are the DOGS?

The Down 'Ole Golf Society, or DOGS, originated in Aberdeen Scotland as a social golf networking society for upstream Oil and Gas people.

The Perth WA chapter of the DOGS was formed in 2013 having been in existence for a number of years prior to 2013 as the "Golden Divots".    Why the name "Golden Divots" was relevant to the upstream oil and gas sector is a mystery that nobody has ever been able to answer.
