In-Car Instruction (step 5)

WHEN WILL MY CHILD DRIVE?

1.  After successful completion of the On-Line portion of the class, all students' Restricted Permits are assigned to 8 different Driver Education Instructors.

2.  Permits are ordered oldest to youngest.  However, actual driving schedules may vary by birthday slightly.

3.  An instructor will contact you at the number you have provided on your Restricted Instruction Permit.  You will be scheduled for a total of 12 In-Car hours; we will work with your schedule as much as possible.

4.  Expect to drive either after school for 2-3-hour sessions or on Saturday for 4-6-hour sessions until all 12 hours are completed.

WHY IS MY CHILD NOT SCHEDULED
BEFORE HIS FRIEND WHO IS YOUNGER?!

IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND----Driver Ed instructors make every effort to drive the oldest students first.  However, difficulty reaching students and parents or other scheduling conflicts CAN cause a slightly younger student to drive FIRST.

For example, a DE instructor may pull six students for a two-week period.  He will call oldest to youngest, but will schedule whomever is first available and willing to drive during his time slots.

Occasionally, this process may result in younger students driving before their older peers.  DE instructors take every practical measure to try to get older students through IN-CAR first; however, it is impossible to make this process flawless.

What Does My Child Need During IN-CAR?
