Math Curriculum
Dear parents,
I wanted to let you know that the 5th grade team will be utilizing a new math program this year: Eureka Math. This program is very consistent with the approaches and strategies that are highlighted in the Common Core curriculum. In addition, we will also be supplementing this work with materials from other resources. As such, your child will be given multiple opportunities to practice and master concepts through a variety of different means.
The students will be utilizing a separate math binder and notebook to practice their skills in the classroom. They will no longer be doing homework in different workbooks. Instead, they will receive individual assignments that will be distributed and stored in the math section of their binders. Each weeks homework will be stapled together and submitted each Friday. All in class work that has been completed and will be kept in their green math folder. At the end of each unit the students will bring their finished work, as well as any graded assignments home in their Panda Folders. I encourage students to take their red math composition book and their green folder home with them daily to serve as reference materials for both you and your child.
