For those of you who are new to Hyde Bands, let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in San Jose and attended UCLA where I got my bachelor's degree in music performance and music education. Afterwards, I got a master's degree in music from Northwestern University. For the first few years after my schooling, I performed as symphony musician, taught private music lessons, and worked as an instrumental specialist for the Redwood Middle School band program. From my experience teaching lessons and working at the middle school, I realized I loved working with kids. This realization inspired me to go back to school to get my teaching credential and work a part-time job as a band director at Palo Alto High School. After finishing my credential, I looked for a full-time job and landed at Hyde. I feel very lucky to be here and I love my job.
When I’m not teaching or doing other musical activities, I spend as much time as possible taking care of my twin daughters Claire and Lauren. They are adorable and LOTS of work! In the remote chance that I ever have free time, I enjoy fly-fishing, golf, watching sports on tv, and spending time with family and friends.
