Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Illness Policy?
Due to the nature of this event - residing, dining, and dancing together - spread of illness is possible. CDW will have a camp medic to be of assistance in addressing any injuries or potential illnesses. CDW will also be monitoring local and national data on viral infectious disease outbreaks leading up to camp.
During camp we ask our community to help monitor all potential symptoms of illness, including sinus and respiratory symptons. Should you feel you are experiencing any symptoms that align with contagious ailments, our dancing medic will be available to monitor/test/advise. Ill attendees will need to leave camp, we will try to accomodate quarantining while travel arrangements are made. If there are instances of illness at or post camp, the planning committee will contact attendees with a tracking and reporting plan.
If you are registered and experiencing any illness, please communicate to our registrar prior to camp.
A refund will be due to you if you cannot attend camp or need to leave early due to illness.
COVID Policy - Masking and testing requirements are subject to change as deemed necessary by infection status and guidelines at the time of event. CDW will also consider recent experiences of events similar to ours and adjust accordingly.
At this time CDW is waiving the mandatory testing for COVID-19 upon arrival to camp. We do however request that attendees bring a COVID test with them should a testing need arise (tests with flu A&B abilities are appreciated if you have access to them). Any changes to this policy will be promptly communicated with all registrants.
Attendees are asked to bring at least one unexpired COVID-19 home test kits per person. CDW has some stock of additional tests should need arise.
Masking is optional in all settings. Please do bring masks for cases of symptom concerns and for use if there is illness present.
We strongly advise all attendees to be responsible with careful actions such as limiting potential exposure and masking in public spaces in the weeks leading up to the event and while traveling to the event to ensure you are able to stay and enjoy camp.
Can I come for a partial week?
We don't want you to miss a single moment but, Yes! it is possible to come for a partial week with a daily rate.
Please email our registrar at cumberlanddanceweek@gmail.com to communicate the dates you'd like to attend. Partial week attendees will need to follow all of the COVID guidelines including arranging a time to meet with a staff nurse and test upon arrival before entering camp.
Where can we fly in close to camp?
Camp is roughly an hour and a half from the Nashville International Airport (BNA). With advanced notice, CDW send you a community link for ride share possibilities.
Flights arriving by 12 noon on Sunday/Arrival day and departing after 3pm on Friday/Departure day are ideal to be able to get to and from camp with time for settling in and loading out.

How does camp work with an infant or toddler?
We love having very littles at camp! Children two and under are welcome in the Childgrove program with a guardian. Guardians are also welcomed to bring children under two to adult classes and encouraged to bring their children on the dance floor in a sturdy wrap or carrier.
How do evening dances work with children?
Evening dances start with approachable dances for all ages. At 8:15, children 9 and under are sung a goodnight song and parents then get them settled in bed in their cabins.
The evening dance begins at 8:20 with a short break at 9:15 to sing the 12 and under children to bed.
Roving monitors check in on each cabin every few minutes from 8:30 - 11:30. If your child has woken up, you will be alerted at the dance.
Is there internet?
There is no cell or data signal at camp. There is limited wifi and a phone available in some camp buildings. Attendees needing to check in with work, their business, or family are welcome to use the wifi.
We invite everyone to enjoy an immersive, unplugged, camp experience.
I don't dance, is there something for me to do?
While most of our classes are focused on dance and music, there are many activities through out the day that are fun to enjoy. NaCoMe is a 600 acre campus in the woods with streams and trails. There are air conditioned cabins with big front porches and rocking chairs. There are many great places to read books, play games or work puzzles with fellow campers, take walks or naps and many great people to talk to. In the afternoon the swimming hole is open, often alongside another camp activity option such as boating, axe throwing, zipline, etc. Gathering brings everyone together to share stories, music, skits, and more.
