'Try It' Sports Festival
Earlier this week, a group of Key Stage 2 pupils visited Ashton Park Secondary School to take part in the Try It Sports Festival.
It was a great opportunity for them to play some different games and face some new challenges!
The children had a fantastic time getting stuck in to all of the activities and did a brilliant job of representing CTK!
Today, some of our KS1 pupils will be heading out to a Sports Festival for their age group - we look forward to sharing pictures and news of the event with you in our next newsletter!
Parents' Evening
Reception Class parents were welcomed in to school yesterday for their first ever CTK Parents' Evening!
Parents' Evenings for the rest of the school begin next week on Tuesday 14th October for children in Years 1-6 and those in Nursery.
If you have not yet booked a slot, there are plenty available for both next week, and the following session on Thursday 23rd October so please contact the school office to make arrangements. There are also still slots available for the second Reception Class parents' evening on Wednesday 15th October.
Family Hub Visit
On Friday 24th October, Diane from Bristol Family Hubs will be in school once again for a parent drop in session.
She will be available to talk about, and support parents with health, education, childcare, well being, mental health, play groups, peer support and relationships.
She will be available from 9-11am - No need to book, just turn up!
Odd Socks for Anti-Bullying
Anti-Bullying Week begins on Monday 10th November and we will be kicking the week off by inviting the children in wearing odd socks!
Secondary School Admissions
If your child is in Year 6, it is now time to apply for their Secondary School place.
You can apply for a school place at: https://www.bristol.gov.uk/residents/schools-learning-and-early-years/school-admissions/secondary-admissions/secondary-apply
Applications must be completed by Friday 31st October 2025
If you need any support in completing your application, please speak to Miss Morse in the school office.
Attendance Champions
BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Year 5 who have achieved 99% attendance this week!!
As a reward for their excellent attendance, they have earned a non-uniform day on Friday 17th October!
Remember, all classes have the opportunity to earn themselves a non-uniform day - all they need to do is be in school on time, every day!
Lateness
Please can we remind parents and carers that the school day begins at 8.40am and all children should be in school before the doors close at 8.50am.
We have recently had a number of children arriving after 9am, which is not only disruptive to their own learning but to the rest of their class.
It also has an effect on the running of the school office and kitchen.
If your child has received a Head Teachers award this week, you are welcome to join us for Celebration Assesmbly on Monday to help them celebrate as they are awarded their certificate. Please arrive at school at 2.40pm ready for assembly to start at 2.45pm

Firstly, a special mention to Monrose. This week, the nursery finished their learning of the Creation Story. They created wheels which could spin and show each individual day of the story.
Monrose took her learning to the next step and independently drew fish and the sea with chalk in the outside area. She showed off her work to Miss Dale and Miss Smith. Furthermore, she went to see Mr Condon and recieved a Headteacher's Sticker too!
Amazing work Monrose!
Secondly, this week has been super busy for the children. They have been doing lots of learning around colour mixing, developing their finger strength during group work and even had their photos taken.
Wednesday's photo day showed off how good the children are. They walked amazingly around the school and sat beautifully well whilst each child had their individual photos taken. We were in the hall for around an hour having sibling photos taken, and yet the nursery children showed off their great behaviour the entire time by sitting well, listening/ following instruction quickly and they did not copy any poor choices that were made by others.
They were rewarded with an extra long play.
We would like to mention just how well your children are doing and how much they impress the nursery staff each day!
On Thursday and Friday, the children did some experiments. Thursday's experiment was, 'I wonder how it rains'. The children discussed the weather of the daily calendar and explored how the rain occurs with a fun, indoor shaving foam activity. They further discussed what to wear when it rains or snows too.
On Friday, the children will be looking at what happens to the pumpkin looking moulds when we add white vinegar.
We hope you have a lovely, restful weekend!
