Students are not to answer calls or make calls during class. (YES YOUR CHILD COULD BE DOING THIS) The class phone can be used if students need to make a call during class time.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Fundamentals of Art class is the beginning art class and a prerequisite to all the other art classes at Crestwood. Students in this class will learn the basics of drawing, shading, still life, composition, design, color wheel, values and painting. They will work with pencils, colored pencils, tempera paint, and markers. The class is worth .5 credits toward the one credit needed in fine arts. The art budget has been slashed six thousand dollars in the past couple of years so we use this money to buy sharpie markers, protractors, rulers, ink for the printers in the room, electric pencil sharpeners and more, Lab money is due by the second Friday of the semester.

Understand the concept of the color wheel
Draw and shade a still life

STUDENT BEHAVIOR AND CLASSROOM GUIDELINES
In order to provide the best possible learning environment for your child, guidelines for behavior will be introduced on the first day of class. This will give every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior. Guidelines in the student handbook also apply
PASSES TO THE RESTROOM. Students must sign out the time they are leaving and the time they return as well as their destination. They are only to go to the restroom, not the lucn room or roam the hall with their friends.
Follow direction the first time they are given. Pay attention and take notes.
Tall care of ALL of the art materials. Use tools as demonstrated. Respect property. Return everything you borrow.
Be to class on time, sit in your assigned seat, and start the bell work. Bell work will consist of locating your project, getting out the necessary tools or supplies and begin work while listening quietly to the announcements or while I and taking attendance
The room is very small, so do not bring anything to class except a pencil and notebook
Work quietly on projects and frequently check the requirements and instructions listed on the tall brown cabinet
ALWAYS clean up after yourself
Do not throw objects over the wall or visit others in the other class
After clean up, you will remain in your seat until the bell rings
No food or drink allowed in class
Do not touch other students work!!!!!!!!!!
Every student has the right to work in a positive learning environment. If a student chooses to break a rule, (mine or the handbook) the following consequences will be imposed:
1st Time – Student receives a warning, no further consequences unless it is a “major” infraction listed in the student handbook
2nd Time – Parent/Parents will be notified after the student is sent to SRC or a detention before or after school will be assigned.
3rd Time – (in one period) Student will be removed from the classroom and sent to the office and parents notified. Students will be required to make up any missed assignments
3rd Time – (in the card marking) Parents will be required to come in for a conference.
SEVERE DISRUPTION: Harassment, fighting, causing harm to another student, destruction of property, defiant behavior or others mentioned in the handbook, student is referred to the office as directed in the handbook.
MATERIALS:
Pencil and eraser are required – all other materials are provided
GRADING:
Students are required to read and understand the rubric that is posted in the classroom. If you do not understand it, you are required to ask for further explanation at the beginning of the term.
ABSENT
If a studeent is absent they can come in on Tuesdays if they are behind in their work. They can also come in durring their lunch or can take work home. If a student is absent for a long time assignments can be dropped.
