Podcast Tips & Best Practices 

1. Listen to podcasts first to get ideas before creating your own. 
2. Make a plan for each episode (e.g., storyboard, graphic organizer) - Pages is a great tool for planning
3. Create a memorable and unique Podcast Name and Cover Image - Keynote works well for creating your image
4. Record in a quiet space to minimize background noise
5. Create "Bumper Music" (Intro/Outro) to introduce and end your podcast
6. Have fun! If you are enjoying yourself, your listeners will too!

Student Created Podcast Ideas

• • Summarize the week’s lessons in your own words.

  • Explain a concept to other students, teachers, or parents.

  • Weather reports or forecasts 

  • News and sports shows.

  • “This Day in History.”

  • “Math is Hard” - fun examples of bad math in the real world, like McDonald’s advertising apple pies at 2 for $1 or 1 for $0.49.

  • Book reviews (an audio version of Reading Rainbow).

  • Video game reviews and tips.

  • Interview podcasts such as “Know Your Classmates” or interview an expert. 

  • Short story podcast. Students write and then narrate their own short fiction stories. Check out Story Spectacular for some inspiration
