RoboWeb-UV, Remote Interface for Mobile Robotics Experimentation
RoboWeb-UV is a software tool for experimenting with mobile robotics remotely. It is designed using Servlet technology, and a Pioneer 3DX mobile robot. Using this software platform users can control the robot remotely, as well as they are able to monitoring the robot activity using video streaming. The software has 6 different panels as follows: the mimic panel shows the environment reconstruction using sonar sensors, the motion panel shows robot odometry information; the sonar panel shows the obstacles level of proximity; the video panel shows the image feedback to users; the tele-operation panel shows different motion controllers to move the mobile robot; and the console panel shows the current state of the mobile robot. Actually, RoboWeb-UV is a registered software legally recognized by the Interior Ministry of Colombia. This document can be downloaded here.
The RoboWeb-UV system architecture is based on the academic high speed data network RENATA. Using this network, a mobile robotics lab (Universidad del Valle) and an industrial robot lab (Universidad del Quindio) can share expensive resources for educational proposes. This can be observed in the figure at left.
At each side of communication, a data base server and a GUI application is used to control the users access to the system.
Specifically, at the mobile robotics laboratory, RoboWeb-UV includes:One Pioneer3DX mobile robot equipped with odometry, sonars and a visual based localization system.
Visual feedback in order to observe remotely the mobile robot task.
A LAN to connect the mobile robot and a laptop used to control the robot behavior.
A public access to Internet in order to access this lab remotely.
The public access is controlled by a server which hold the data base to control users.
A set of users who can access the remote laboratory.
This software was developed for educational and service use. If you like more information, please contact me:
