INVIFusion 1.0, Software Tool for the Extrinsic Calibration of Visual and Thermal Cameras for Thermography Inspection
INVIFusion 1.0 is a thermography software tool developed to deal with any hybrid camera system composed by a thermal camera and a visual spectrum camera. INVIFusion has three main modules: first, the calibration module where intrinsic and extrinsic calibration of the camera setup is performed; second, the image processing module where visual and thermal images are available, and all or part of them can be projected each other; and third, the report generation module which according with the ASTM international standardization committee.
The main advantage of this software tool in comparison with other thermography software is focused on performing the fusion task using any hybrid camera system. Actually, INVIFusion is a registered software legally recognized by the Interior Ministry of Colombia. This document can be downloaded here.
The very first module in the INVIFusion thermography tool is Calibration. Here, users can perform the following operations:
To observe the calibration images containing the calibration grid in the thermal and visual spectrum.
Once at least 7 pairs of images are captured, intrinsic and stereo calibration can be started.
The intrinsic and stereo calibration results can be observed below each type of image. Also, these data can be saved on disk.
The thermal and visual images can be rectified.
The right part of the GUI shows the image workspace.
It is worth noting that this step is not completed, the next module called image processing can not be started. Or it can be started if users load previous calibration results.
The second module of INVIFusion is called image processing. This module is in charge of fusion visual and thermal images, as well as performing different image processing tasks. The image processing features include:
Total or partial fusion of thermal and visual images.
Edge extraction from visual images and project them on the thermal image.
Changing the pseudo-color pallet for thermal images.
Histogram equalization.
Semi-automatic re-calculating of the homography matrix to improve the image fusion.
Real time image fusion using video inputs from the infrared and visual cameras.
Transparency variation of the fusion images.
Image saving for report use.
Intensity filter.
Finally, the third module consolidates the thermography inspection into a PDF document. This document is generated according with the ASTM international standardization committee, which defines the normative for Electrical equipment inspections. This module includes:
The workspace where users can select which images include into the thermography report.
General information about the company and professional staff that performs the thermography inspection.
General information about the thermography inspection itself. This includes data such as location, weather conditions, sensor used, distance to target, etc.
Logo selection to include corporate information.
This software was developed for industrial and service use. If you like to perform a thermography inspection, please contact me:
