The members of Satire 2011 have taken a stand.
The Occupy Wall Street movement has been going on for quite a few week now, and it is connected to the "We Are The 99 Percent" movement. The idea is that since 1% of the population of the U.S. controls a vast majority of the wealth, the rest ("The 99%") are the "little people" who are in debt and destitute... or whatever.
Here's the original "We Are The 99 Percent" tumblr.
Here's a right-wing response to the "99 Percent" movement: http://the53.tumblr.com/. These folks don't take kindly to others claiming they "deserve" a better chance at the American dream. They claim to be the 53 percent of the population who pays taxes (as opposed to the 47% who don't). Read some of these carefully also. They've already spawned a snarky response website: http://actuallyyourethe47percent.tumblr.com/.
Some people are in the 1%, and earnest about it, almost ashamed of their wealth. They even do it with style.
The fridge photo below is one version of a parody of this social phenomenon.
