Many successful research grants have helped Coe College maintain excellent equipment holdings. All of this equipment is available for use by undergraduate students. Indeed, it is part of Coe's mission to give students hands-on training with modern research tools and techniques. Here is a list of some of the equipment students may use in their research:
Horiba LabRam spectometer (simultaneous scanning probe/confocal IR imaging microscopy)
JASCO NRS imaging Raman spectrometer (3-d imaging auto scan)
Veeco Scanning Probe Microscope (AFM, MFM, STM, and other microscopies.)
aerodynamic levitation apparatus (laser heating of glasses in contact-free environment)
Comstock LI-TOF (laser ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometer)
JEOL Eclipse FT-NMR spectometer
JASCO FP-6500 spectrofluorimeter with epifluorescence sample compartment
Perkin Elmer inductively coupled plasma (ICP) spectrometer
