My Teaching Philosophy:
In order for a person to be physically educated, they need to know how to take care of their bodies by staying physically active and fit. I believe that physical education is about incorporating various physical activities into a daily routine to enhance a person’s overall health.
A professional who teaches health and physical education should be able to teach others how to live a healthy lifestyle that will allow them to enjoy life. I believe that a teacher in this area of education should strive not only to teach others how to live healthy lives but to also lead by example and be physically active themselves.
A student who is physically educated will know how the human body works and be able to stay physically active to keep their body as healthy as possible. I believe that the knowing and understanding the components of fitness are one of the top priorities in physical education. Fitness needs to be highly regarded because being physically fit will allow a person to live a longer and healthier life. The benefits of being physically active are endless. If someone is physically fit, they will feel much better about themselves and look better, too. Being physically active will also allow a person to prevent or postpone chronic illnesses or diseases that may come during their lifetime due to inactivity.
I want to pass my knowledge onto my students so that they can create an interest in physical activity and health. It is my job as a physical educator to encourage people to participate in fitness activities. By living a physically active life, many problems like obesity, heart disease, and osteoporosis will be decreased. I believe that making a strong impact on being physically active with the students early on in a physical education class will make this a possibility. Physical activity and health are passions in my life and I hope to pass on the desire to be physically active to others around me. It is my goal as a physical education teacher to help create healthy student bodies through multiple physical activities the best way I know how.
