Advanced Physical Education is an elective course here at CL high school that is open for males and females in grades 10-12. This course is a semester long course that promotes lifetime sport and recreational activities and provides an opportunity for an in-depth study in specific areas. The student will participate in moderate to vigorous physical activities that include (1) health-related fitness activities (cardio-respiratory endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility and body composition), (2) team, individual, or dual sports (3) various lifetime physical activities, (4) weight training and (5) outdoor pursuits. It also includes the study of physical development concepts and principles of sport and exercise as well as opportunities to develop or refine skills and attitudes that promote lifelong fitness. Ongoing assessment includes both technological and performance-based skill evaluations as well as a project based assessment near the end of the semester. This class is for students who value lifelong fitness and have a desire to maintain or improve an already healthy living style.
