Exposure Information

Exposure Information is as follows. Required exposure information is bold. There is no limit for the number of exposures. All of the exposure information is in the Nar-Exposure worksheet. You must 'link' each exposure record to a claimant using either the ClaimantID or the Claimant SSN from the Nar-Claim worksheet. For each Exposure Information entry you must follow the rules below.

  • ClaimantID or Claimant SSN; these values need to match exactly with the values in the Nar-Claim worksheet

    • ClaimantID

    • Claimant SSN

  • ExpsosureBeginDate

  • ExposureEndDate

  • ExposureIndustry fields

  • ExposureOccupation fields

  • ExposureType Items:

    • Exposure Work Code - this is required when using an approved NARCO Site or the 'Not Qualified' SiteID (583)

      • How did the occupationally-exposed person work with NARCO products? (a or b)

      • a

        • Worked on a regular basis with a NARCO asbestos-containing product; or

      • b

        • Worked on a regular basis in close proximity to workers who (must provide Exposure Work TypeCode)

    • Exposure Work TypeCode

      • If above [Exposure Work Code] is b (also may use this code for the Vicinity. ExposureTypeCode)

      • Occupationally-exposed person either:

        • i

          • Handled raw asbestos fibers on a regular basis;

        • ii

          • Fabricated asbestos-containing products so that he/she in the fabrication process was exposed on a regular basis to raw asbestos fibers; or

        • iii

          • Installed, altered, repaired, removed or otherwise worked with an asbestos-containing product such that he/she was exposed on a regular basis to asbestos fibers.

      • *note that the above work typecodes vary slightly from ExposureTypeCode below.

    • Exposure TypeCode - this is required when using the 'Not NARCO' SiteID (4895)

    • Exposure Type Code Other Desc

      • If ExposureTypeCode of other(v) is specified above then you must provide a description of the exposure.

    • Vicinity Exposure Occupation

      • If ExposureTypeCode of proximity(iv) is specified above then you must provide the occupation code of the co-worker in proximity.

    • Vicinity ExposureTypeCode

      • If ExposureTypeCode of proximity(iv) is specified above then you must provide the Vicinity ExposureTypeCode of the co-worker in proximity.

        • The category that best describes the exposure of the occupationally-exposed co-worker(s) in proximity:

          • i

            • Handled raw asbestos fibers on a regular basis;

          • ii

            • Fabricated asbestos-containing products so that he/she in the fabrication process was exposed on a regular basis to raw asbestos fibers; or

          • iii

            • Installed, altered, repaired, removed or otherwise worked with an asbestos-containing product such that he/she was exposed on a regular basis to asbestos fibers.

  • Exposure Product fields (required when specifying the 'Not Qualified' Site)

  • ExposureSite fields

  • ExposurePrincipal fields

Make sure you are using the Nar-Exposure worksheet for all Exposure Information!
