Grade One

GRADE ONE MUSIC

Students in Grade One will come to music for 30 minutes twice per week.  We will learn beat, rhythmic and melodic notations through singing, listening, writing, movements, and games.  We will use music to celebrate the liturgical and school events of the year.  We will explore and respect music from other cultures and historical periods, particularly Indigenous music.

Evaluation:

 Objective evaluation of knowledge and subjective evaluation of participation and performance will be based on the following progress levels:

•  Extending (EXT) - exceptional conceptional understanding

•  Proficient (PRF) - conceptual understanding (Proficient is the goal of your child)

•  Developing (DEV) - partial understanding

• Emerging (EMG) - limited understanding
