AP 2D Art and Design or AP Drawing is a college level course. The AP Art + Design Portfolio has two sections: Sustained Investigation and Selected Works. Students either enter the 2D Design portfolio or the Drawing portfolio.
SUSTAINED INVESTIGATION (60% of final score) - In this section you create 15 images to document their inquiry-guided investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision. In addition to the 15 digital images, a written response is required. Typed responses to prompts, providing information about the inquiry-guided investigation.
SELECTED WORKS (40% of final score)- In this section you choose your 5 works of art, design and writing that demonstrate skillful synthesis of MATERIALS, PROCESSES, and IDEAS. Here you will pull from work completed in the Breadth and Concentration sections. It is not 5 new pieces of work. The work may not exceed 18" x 24".
AP WILL BEGIN IN JANUARY 2021--please reach out to the instructor if you are interested in starting early.
If you have signed up for this course, each student will be expected to access and use Google folder made for this course. Each student will be expected to update and drop photos of their work as the year progresses. I will have access to this folder throughout the year as well. Individual progress meetings will be once a week or every two weeks to have a teacher student conversation about what is being worked on. Class critiques will be every 4 weeks, students are expected to explain their work and findings at each of these outlets.
