I have been taking engineering since 7th, but these items were done in 8th grade. We learned the basics of 3D printing and making molds and cast. We also learn the extensive soldering skills. Soldering has been my favorite thing to do in all of engineering.
3D Printing:My class and I have been working on designing and printing out checkers. Here are my designs. They will be printed soon and then in order to make faster copies we will make a mold of them. Then we will put liquid plastic into the mold and wait for it to harden. Then I will repeat the process until all the checkers are done.
Electric Trees: In my 7th and 8th grade engineering classes we made electric trees by putting wire together and soldering on LED lights. The trees are powered by watch batteries and the next years tress where powered by a USB cord that one side was attached to the tress and the other side plugged in (through a USB) to the computer. My favorite middle school projects were the ones that involved soldering.
