2/14/18: Pencil Holder
For the last few days, we have worked on designing pencil holder to cut out on the shopBot which is a CNC machine that can cut wood. Below are the pictures of the fusion 360 file which will soon be cut out on the shopbot. In addition, I have included the file below. The fusion file is called Sierra Pencil Holder v1.f3d.

2/19/18-2/23/18: I worked with Jessica, Olivia, and Justin to print out our pencil holders on the shopbot. We used the smaller of the two shopbots and followed the workflow included at the top of this page. I had to create a .sbp file in order to be able to cut my fusion design on the shopbot. Below I have included the .sbp file it is called sierrapencilbox.sbp. I started with a block of wood.
Here is a powerpoint presentation to show how I made the box.
Summary Paragraph:
Throughout this project, I learned how to use a lot of the tools in the engineering room. I learned how to use the shopbot, the band saw, the table saw, and the sanding machine. At first, using the shopbot proved to be challenging. Our file kept coming up with an error message saying that something was wrong. We were eventually able to fix the problem by just clicking start because there were no errors in our files. A personal issue was the size of my holes. In Fusion 360 I wanted larger holes to in my pencil box, .75" to be exact, but the bit we were using didn't cut holes bigger than .5". I was then able to troubleshoot afterward and with Mr. Rudolph's help, I was able to physically force out the circles. After completing the project, I am able to use the shopbot along with a wide variety of other woodworking tools.
