2/18: Ring
For a few days, we have been working on designing rings in Fusion 360 and then printing them out on the other mills. In order to accomplish this, we needed to export our rings from Fusion as g-codes. In the attachments, I have included the G-code for my ring (Sierraring.gcode) and my Fusion 360 file (Sierra Kanofsky Aluminum Ring v1.f3d). To ensure ring sizes, we also tested out the file on the laser cutter. Unfortunately, like most of my projects, the ring did not work on the first try due to the other mill issue where it completely stopped working. On the second try, the spindle stopped working again. Luckily, I was able to get the other mill to work on the third try. Below is video and of the other mill cutting out my ring.

I have both part one and part two here. Part one was from my second try and part two is from my 3rd try. I included part one because I was able to use the same piece of metal with the cuts made from part 1 in my third and final attempt on the other mill.

Summary: Through this project, I learned how to use the other mill and I learned how to be persistent throughout the entire process. I also learned about bits and the importance of tightening them at a certain location so that the uneven part is not being grasped.
