Students are expected to come to school prepared. For middle and high school students, this includes charging their Chromebooks nightly at home and bringing them to school fully charged. Each classroom WILL have one extra charger that will be shared. Loaner devices will NOT be available. As more curriculum and student work is becoming available online, not bringing a charged device to school daily will have a negative impact on learning. With the collaborative and multimedia nature of our Chromebooks, not all work will be able to be completed with traditional tools. Students will be expected to problem solve self imposed dilemmas.
Chromebooks in elementary schools are kept in the classrooms and utilize charging stations nightly.
To ensure the lifespan of the Chromebooks, students should ensure the following when transporting devices, even between classes:
Do not put items between the keyboard and the screen
When picking the device up, do not place fingers directly on the screen
Be sure device is closed before transporting
should never be transported while open as even gentle handling can damage the screen. Chromebooks should be safely closed and placed in their travel case before they are taken from classroom to classroom, or to and from school (middle and high school students only). The cases provided will have durable corners to protect from drops and a shoulder strap.
The devices will only connect to the web wirelessly. If the district’s WiFi network is down during school, the Chromebooks will not have connectivity to the web. However, some features, such as access to the student’s Google Drive, will still work on a limited basis. The work that is done off-line will not be backed up until a wireless Internet connection is restored.
