VIDEO I

IMPORTANT INFO

This course is heavily centered around filming and editing on a computer. Please be prepared for this kind of workload because that is what the entire course is centered around. There will be times when you will be required to work outside of class time to meet project deadlines - this is almost always a concern so be prepared for that because it is extremely likely to happen.
_____________________________________________________________________

This class is broken up into two sections that will take place during the first and second quarters of the semester you are in and both carry equal weight to the other.  The end goal is that I am leading you into a full understanding of what is required to be in the Video II program which is the ideal end goal of a Video I student.

During the first quarter, we will explore Adobe Premiere and its editing capabilities so we have a better understanding of what it does and how to use it. We will experiment with several projects varying in difficulty as we continue to navigate through our editing skills.

During the second quarter of your semester, we will extensively practice learning how to run a LIVE news show for our school broadcasting program. During this time we will practice several techniques and roles required to run the show. Additionally, we will work on a few filmed projects that will work in conjunction with the show. At the end of practicing running a live show, each group will run a LIVE show

Project - WAKE UP

From the moment you open your eyes your day begins, as does your story. You will demonstrate your ability to create your own wake-up video that is exactly 60 seconds in length (not 59 seconds, not 61 seconds - 60 seconds).

You should shoot 10-15 (school-appropriate) examples of video footage that display things you do when you start your day. Using Adobe Premiere, you will learn how to cut and piece together a sequential story using basic editing tools. Your movie must contain music to accompany your video footage which can be collected from any source.

The focus of this project is on the accuracy and quality/quantity of video footage, your ability to cut and create your video using Adobe Premiere software, and your ability to select appropriate music to add into your video. PLEASE SHOOT THIS FOOTAGE HORIZONTALLY!!!!

You will demonstrate your ability to find a segment of a cartoon that is exactly 30 seconds in length (not 29 seconds, not 31 seconds - 30 seconds). Does this mean your search needs to be a cartoon that is only 30 seconds? No. You may find a cartoon of any length - you just need to select 30 seconds of the cartoon for your project.

You will then remove all of the audio and replace the missing audio with your own captured audio and found sound effects. You MUST use the podcasting room to record anything spoken and/or additional sound effects that are fitting for your project.
