Expectations

Teaching and learning at Burnside is in a blended learning environment which is the reason that all students need to bring their own device to school. Online learning is one approach, amongst a range, to teaching and learning that our teachers use. Different subjects and different teachers will use Schoology, our online learning platform, to different degrees. The expectations for your child’s classes, are that they will:

• Have a copy of the course structure available in Schoology for each of their classes.

• Have assessment dates in the course calendar for each of their classes.

• Have the learning updated each week, for example, a statement about the learning objectives for the week and some accompanying resources, if applicable.

Many staff are using Schoology to a much greater extent than these expectations.

If parents wish to communicate with the school, this should still be done by email or a phone call (not through Schoology).
