Part four of our unit on Jazz History will focus on Latin Jazz.

Perhaps the most famous Latin Jazz song of the last 60 years is A. C. Jobim's "The Girl from Ipanema", here recorded by saxophonist Stan Getz with Joao & Astrud Gilberto, the trio credited with bringing this brand of Brazilian Jazz called Bossa Nova to the US.

Also from the early 60's we have Horace Silver's calypso-influenced "Song for My Father".

Latin Jazz expanded even more in the 80’s, 90’s and beyond. Here’s one of my personal favorites. This is “Havana Cafe” by Paquito D’Rivera.
