Sight words are high frequency words that occur most often in children's literature, but they cannot be decoded easily. Mastering them helps to improve a child's fluency and builds their confidence as they read. Below is a list of the most common sight words young readers encounter as they read. The class will work on mastering new sight words each week. The list below contains all of the sight words your child is expected to know by the end of kindergarten, however there will be additional words included as the year progresses.
