It’s almost time for the annual Spring Fling! This is our biggest fundraising event of the year and all four BPCS school communities come together to make it happen. This event helps to close that funding gap and provide much needed budget relief for all BPCS Principals. Re-enrollment Due March 15th

Re-enrollment for your student is now open on TeacherEase!

As soon as you log in to your TeacherEase account, you will automatically be directed to a Registration Form for the 2018-19 academic year. Please let us know if your current student will join us next year! We’re excited for another year together!

The deadline for re-enrollment is Thursday, March 15th. If you have questions about re-enrollment or the BPCS HS process, email WTMSRegistrar@brooklynprospect.org or call (347) 889-7041 x1016.

Lottery and Waitlist Applications for the 2017-18 School Year are now available!

Sibling families are given priority for entry into all Brooklyn Prospect schools. Families interested in applying sibling(s) of current Brooklyn Prospect students may access our application online at www.brooklynprospect.org/admissions.

If you know any families that are interested in joining Brooklyn Prospect Charter School, please advise them to apply on our website or attend an upcoming information session. Visit our website for information session details.

Report Cards and Progress Reports

At the end of each semester, an official report card is mailed to parents outlining your student’s official academic grades. Report cards were mailed out last week for the first semester (which closed January 26th) and a few days after the last day of school for second semester. Mid-semester progress reports will be available for second semester at the March conferences.

If you do not receive your Fall Semester report card by Mid-February, please email wtmscoordinator@brooklynprospect.org.

Volunteers Needed for BPCS HS Career Day

Career day at Brooklyn Prospect Charter High School is approaching again and we're extending an invitation for you to join us and volunteer some of your time. This year it will be on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 1:15-3:30.

Dance & Phys. Ed Locker Room Renovations Beginning Soon!

We are excited to be completing the first round of renovations to our student restrooms (C Level) and locker rooms over February Break. Starting 2/19 work will begin!

This means students will not change for PE and Dance Class. Students should bring a pair of sneakers to change into for class. Locker rooms will re-open in mid-March. If you have questions, please contact the Middle School Office.

Colder Weather

As temperatures get colder, please make sure your student has a black or grey hoodless sweatshirt, sweater or fleece jacket.

MS-wide Book Club

Wednesday, January 31st was another successful meeting of the monthly Book Club meeting and pizza party! Students met to discuss Kwame Alexander’s The Playbook: 52 Rules to Aim, Shoot, and Score in This Game Called Life. We encourage all MS students to participate and read along. In February, the Book Club celebrates Black History Month with this month’s selection, Malcolm X: By Any Means Necessary by Walter Dean Myers.

WTMS Celebrates Black History Month!

Mr. Martinez & the Art students have created silhouettes in the style of Kara Walker to celebrate Black History Month. Check out the art celebrating famous and influential black artists, entertainers and political figures like Kehinde Wiley, Oprah, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Barack Obama. As part of the school-wide celebration of Black History Month, WTMS All-Access After School will be hosting a number of very special events for our middle school students. Starting with next week's Trivia Challenge, and including a "Speak Out" panel discussion on Tuesday, February 27th. here's everything we have planned:

8th Grade

BPCS High School Experience Afternoon - Feb. 28th, 4pm

On Wednesday, February 28th at 4pm, BPCS High School will be hosting our fourth annual "High School Experience Taster Afternoon!" This event is an opportunity for 7th and 8th grade students to experience what it's like to be in high school at BPCS! Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in abridged lessons (approximately 20 minutes for each class) given by our high school faculty as well as learn about our IB Diploma Program and chat with Principal Wong.

8th Grade Musical Theater Trip, Feb. 14

8th grade Musical Theater students will be seeing the Broadway musical "School of Rock" this Wednesday, February 14, 2018 as part of their Musical Theater classes. The trip is an exciting opportunity for our Musical Theater students! Students will return to school around 6pm.

Bills are now available on Teacherease. If you have questions about payments or dismissal, please contact the Middle School Office.

8th Grade HS Transition Process

Families and students interested in the HS transition and application process should contact Steven Lam at slam@brooklynprospect.org or or visit during office hours Tuesday and Friday mornings from 8AM-9AM in Room 405. 7th Grade Trip to Philadelphia - Mar. 9th

This year we invite 7th grade students on a day trip to visit Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The date of the trip is Friday, March 9th, 2018. You can now view and pay your balance on TeacherEase, alternatively you can send a check or money order in an envelope labeled with your student's name and trip. Payment is due Monday, February 26th. Families should be sure to confirm their students' attendance here asap!

Crest Project Spotlight

The sixth grade is hard at work creating their Advisory Crests! In this project, students use the International Baccalaureate design cycle to create crests that represent values that unite the students in their advisory.
