COURSE INFORMATION

Introduction to grammar and practical vocabulary necessary for fundamental communication skills. Practice and further development of essential listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills will be covered. It is expected that students in this class will develop fluency with essential vocabulary (greetings, numbers, days and months, time, family terms, description of people, daily routine) and key grammatical structures (present tense verbs, expressing basic opinions, noun-adjective agreement, basic word order for statements and questions). Everyday class work includes practicing new vocabulary and grammar and applying these studies to practical, real-life situations, such as finding your way around a city, explaining your symptoms to a doctor, haggling over prices in a market, inviting a friend to a movie, and telling stories about past experiences.

Welcome to Spanish!

COURSE INFORMATION

Spanish language students will become comfortable using the language to express their emotions, desires and thoughts. This will be fostered through daily speaking practice. In addition to verbal and communicative comfort of Spanish, students will begin to understand the global and historical significance of the Spanish language through the study of Hispanic cultures (films, songs, food, etc.) The long-term vision of this course is for students to speak the Spanish as much as possible and contextualize and foster and international perspective.
