8th Grade Math

Math 8 Course Information

The Math 8 course is designed to build the framework for high school mathematics. There are three major topics in this course:

1. Linear Equations: solving equations in one variable, solving systems of linear equations, modeling bivariate data with linear functions.

2. Functions: defining the concept of a function, distinguishing between function families, describing functions through graphs, tables, equations and verbal descriptions.

3. 2D and 3D Geometry: transformations in 2D geometry, volume of 3D figures, Pythagorean theorem.

We will address content with equal emphasis on conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and contextual relevance.
