Uni VISITS :

Check with your teacher that it’s ok with them before you just show up - use your manners. Mrs Hayward.

Hey guys

A reminder of what I talked with you about in the common room last week:

    • I have organised visits from a few providers already for this year. If you want a visit from someone I haven't organised yet please let me know. See the list at the bottom of this email and keep an eye on the careers noticeboard in the common room.
    • I recommend you get onto it with your learners/restricted licence. It will be so helpful to you and the end of the year comes around quicker than you think!
    • I recommend you try and have some kind of part time job or do some volunteering in your community. Life isn't just about what happens at school and future employers/institutions look at the 'whole person'. Also - it's good for you! :)
    • Check your emails and the school notices daily if you don't want to miss out on important careers info.
    • If you can get a 'realme' sooner rather than later it will be a real advantage to you when you apply for all sorts of things later in the year https://www.realme.govt.nz/
    • If you're thinking about going to Uni next year have you got your finances sorted? Did you know that you can't put everything on a student loan and will need some extra money?

If you have questions come and see me or email me - I'm here to help but I also expect you to be pro-active.

COURSE PLANNING VISITS

Course Planning is when the University Advisor sits with you and plans your course with you for next year. It is a good chance to pick their brains about courses and make choices that will suit you.

These are the visits I have organised so far. They are in the school calendar and notices and I will send you a reminder email closer to the time. They are held in the student centre:

OPEN DAYS

You can generally find the open days on the University website but I will also let you know the ones they let me know about.

You find your own way there.
