Why Pre-AP?
As registration rapidly approaches, we are excited to announce that Accelerated English 10 will now be Pre-AP English 10 at Boise High School. Pre-AP is designed to give every student the opportunity to learn the foundational knowledge and skills they need to be successful in AP and other college-level coursework and improve literacy in all areas. Students will further their skills through solid, research-based practice that will enhance the already existing English Language Arts curriculum
Pre-AP English prepares all sophomores for the rigors of junior and senior level classes, specifically in AP Language and Composition and/or AP English Literature and Composition. Students will have the opportunity to select which course best suits their academic goals and be fully prepared for success. The Boise High English Department has worked diligently to create core texts for each grade level so that students truly do have access and rigor throughout their years with us. Additionally, the skills students learn and practice in Pre-AP English 10 will build competency for any of the classes students choose to take, more closely aligning with the rigor and demand of junior and senior year.
