Orazio Vecchi

Orazio Vecci was born in Italy in 1550. As a monk, he served the church as a musician and music director in several cathedrals. Additionally, he occasionally took work as a court musician for noblemen. While he wrote a great deal of music for church services, his most famous works are his madrigal comedies, a new style of music which told stories through song. Many people see madrigal comedies as an influence on the later musical style, Opera. His most famous work is the madrigal comedy L'Amfiparnaso. The song in the following videos is called "Fa Una Canzona". Notice how the different groups interpret the song.
