Along with your calendars, project and next action lists, keep a project log or journal. Reflect on your project-- and your writing self. At the end of a weekly planning session, note how the week’s work has gone and how your plans evolve. At the beginning of a daily work session, consider what you wish to accomplish that day and at the end, note what you’ve done-- and what you hope to do next time. A simple tool for helping you maintain momentum is a journal or log specifically for the purpose of monitoring your project. If you write in it regularly, perhaps even a few notes at the beginning or end of a works session. you will collect data on your own work habits, as well as a few unexpected insights into your project.
