Director
Michael Moran has been the band and orchestra director at Freedom High School since 1998. He is a native of Bethlehem, PA. Mr. Moran attended West Chester University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. He received his Masters in Education from Wilkes University. He has been teaching high school instrumental music for 30 years in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Mr. Moran has been the host to PMEA District and Region Band Festivals as well as host of the instrumental auditions for District 11. Under his leadership, the Freedom High School Patriot Band has participated in such prestigious events as the St. Patrick's Day parades in Dublin and Limerick, Ireland in 2000, 2004, and 2008 having won best overall band twice. The band also represented Pennsylvania in 2001 in the 60th Anniversary Parade remembering the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. His ensembles have consistently received superior and outstanding ratings at national music festivals. Mr. Moran has been nominated to Who's Who Among America's Teachers twice. He has been a director for American Music Abroad and currently serves as the chairperson of the Fine and Practical Arts Department of Freedom High School.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities at Freedom High School, Mr. Moran also directs the Macungie Band in Macungie, PA. plays trombone in the Allentown Band, and the Silver and Brass Trombone Quartet.
