The band had a tremendous 1st week of band camp last week. The music and routine work is looking and sounding very strong. We completed our marching basics for pregame, and performed the pregame drill with music! A great accomplishment.
This week our goal is to learn the slide technique of our marching program, learn the drill for halftime, and perform it with music by the end of the week. Quite a goal, but baring the weather, an attainable one. Everyone did a super job last week staying focused and listening to instruction. Student leadership was excellent as was participation and spirit. Well done everyone! Keep it up as we start week 2.
Don't forget proper preparation for tomorrow's rehearsal:
Eat a good breakfast each day
Drink plenty of water BEFORE coming to camp
Bring a water jug with your name on it for periodic breaks throughout the day
Make sure you have your instrument in the best possible working condition
Have all of your music printed out
Wear comfortable sneakers. No crocks, flip-flops, or sandals.
No skintight or revealing bathing suits. Comfortable lightweight clothes that breathe. Try not to wear black since black absorbs heat.
Hats are encouraged. Sunglasses are permitted.
Put on sunscreen at home before arriving, but we will have some here for those that forget.
Come with a positive attitude and a desire to work hard and have fun doing it!
The next big band fundraiser is coming up in 2 weeks, another band car wash, this time at Freedom. it will take place on Sunday, Aug. 23. Workers will be there from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Customers can come by from 9:00am to 2:00pm. The cost is $10 the day of, but we are doing presale tickets this time. Presale tickets are $7 each, and for every ticket you sell, the entire $7 goes into your student account. You must pay cash or check. Exact cash would be appreciated. Checks should be made out to FHSBOPO. Aiden Schankel is the band treasurer and students need to go to him for presale tickets. You MUST pay upfront. No tickets will be handed out without paying for them first. All student once again can get community service for working the car wash. Here's the signup form:
