Hello Pates. I hope everyone who had to come in for Keystones last week did well and I hope everyone who got to stay home enjoyed the time off.
For those that were around at the time, a few years ago, the band, along with Liberty's band, were a part of a movie called "The Hail Mary". That movie has finally been finished and will be released in various theaters next month. Here's the trailer for it.
It will be released on Feb. 27. It can be seen at the Frank Banko Ale House Cinema at 11:00am, Bethlehem Catholic HS at 3pm that day and 7:00pm at the Roxy Theater that day.
Last week I sent out the registration form for the New York trip to see Moulin Rouge in APril. Here's the link again for those that may have missed it.
New York 2026 trip registration
Students, please register by the end of this week. Your first deposit is not due till the end of the month. All the details about the trip are on the registration form. Parents will be permitted to sign up as well after this Friday and if there are spots available. This trip is open to all band, orchestra, and choir students, but seniors have priority. After that it will be by order of registration.
This is the last week of marking period 2 and the first semester. Finals begin Thursday. Blocks 1 and 2 Thursday and blocks 3 and 4 Friday. Thursday would be an orchestra day but orchestra students do NOT need to come in first block Thursday unless they have to due to transportation issues. The band room will be open for students to come in and practice or study for finals.
The first county band rehearsal is this Saturday at Nazareth High School. It is from 8:00am to 12 noon. Please arrive by 7:45am to get seated and warm up before 8am. You will need to use your own transportation to get there and be picked up. Don't forget to take your instrument home before Saturday. I will not be going to Freedom on Saturday prior to rehearsal.
Jan. 19 is MILK Day and there is no school, however, Mr. Lynn will be doing a "Operation Save Mr. Lynn's Office" event that day and would like your help. We will be filing music, cleaning out drawers, reorganizing the file system, discarding whatever is not deemed necessary to save. Anyone who helps will receive community service. The more people, the less time it takes. Please consider helping out.
Band, we will be taking a field trip to the Zoellner Arts Center at Lehigh University on Friday, February 6 during blocks 2 and 3. The cost is free. We will leave at 9:00am and return around 12:20pm. Plan to eat D lunch. We will be going to hear a fantastic music ensemble, Sangjaru. More details will be coming.
Looking ahead:
Jan. 19 - NO SCHOOL - MLK DAY
"Operation: Save Mr. Lynn's Office"
Jan. 20 - Final exam make-up day
Jan. 21 - FHSBOPO meeting in the band room at 7:00pm
Jan. 21 - MP3/Semester 2 begins (a band day)
Jan. 22-24 - PMEA District Orchestra
Have a great week and good luck with finals!
