Course Description:Â
This course is designed as an advanced course. A college text is used. Students will become familiar with the vocabulary of sociology and the scientific methods it uses. The theoretical perspectives used by the discipline will also be studied. Course topics include the following: Culture, Society, Social Interaction, Socialization, Religion, Education, Deviance, Stratification, Race, Gender and Collective Behavior. Students are expected to write several critical analysis papers. These papers will follow current APA guidelines. The ability to write clearly is an important part of this course.
