"I have never seen an APWH Thesis that is too specific.....I have however seen many, many, many APWH essays with a thesis that is not specific enough"
-APWH Chief Reader
A.P. = ANSWER the PROMPT!
ALWAYS Provide context. Specifically state:
-Who/what you are talking about
-When they/it existed
-Where they/it existed
Oddities about the APWH Thesis:
1.)Thesis can be multiple sentences BUT if it is multiple sentences those sentences must be consecutive.
Acceptable Example: Non-Thesis Sentence. Thesis Sentence. Thesis Sentence.
Unacceptable Example: Thesis Sentence. Non-Thesis Sentence. Thesis Sentence.
2.) Although it is better if it is concise....your APWH Thesis can be longer than your traditional thesis as long as it is accurately answering the prompt.
Norms about the APWH Thesis:
1.) Road-Map to main points of your essay.
2.) Must be accurate.
3.) Located at the end of your introductory paragraph.
4.) Everything else.
The Point: Don't get thrown off by the minor acceptable differences in the APWH Thesis. The differences exist to make it easier for you to show off your knowledge and write an acceptable thesis. At it's heart the point of the thesis is exactly the same as any other (good) thesis you have ever written. ANSWER THE PROMPT!
OOOOOO.....One more thing! Restating the prompt is NOT the same thing as answering the prompt! Watch the video for clarification:
