For historians it is not enough to merely remember and regurgitate a vast amount of specific facts and details. Content knowledge is important but Historians pride themselves on their ability to analyze and interpret historical facts and evidence in order to achieve a better understanding of major developments in U.S. history.
The AP history courses seek to apprentice students in their growth as historians by explicitly stressing the development of historical thinking skills, thematic learning, and content knowledge.
