September 2023 Update-
It’s that time of year again! Students are learning about our Minnesota Youth Reading Award nominees during library classes.
For students in grades K-2 we will read ten books from the Star of the North nominee book list. And for grades 3-5 we will introduce all ten Maud Hart Lovelace nominees. Red Pine has always taken part in this special MN tradition that encourages our readers to connect with literature as a part of a larger community.
Please visit the Minnesota Youth Reading website for more information about these “read and vote” book awards. https://myrahome.org/
All RP students in grades K-2 will have a chance to vote for one Star of the North nominee in library before spring break.
Any RP student in grades 3-5 who have read or listened to at least three titles from the Division I nominee list before spring break are eligible to vote for this year's MHL award.
Please note that students who read all TEN nominees and turn in signed, summary sheets will be invited to our MHL party in May with plenty of prizes, and a pizza lunch! This celebration is sponsored by our RP PTO, The Friends of the Robert Trail Library and Mrs. Robertson and Mrs. Jarvi.
Our RP library, your local public library and local bookseller all promote SoTN and MHL. Please contact me or visit your Dakota County Public Library or a local bookstore like Red Balloon Bookshop or Wild Rumpus for more information.

September 2021 Update-
Welcome Back Red Pine Library Cardinals! We are looking forward to another BRIGHT School Year in library. Please refer to the Red Pine library schedule on the menu banner at the top of this page.
Library Cardinal tips to remember:
Your book is your responsibility. Don’t lend your book to anyone else. Don’t expect your parents to keep track of it for you.
Keep your book in your backpack whenever you’re not reading it. This way you’ll have it at school no matter when you have library. We want you to be able to get a new book every time you come to library! Keeping your book in your backpack will also help your book stay safe from pets and small children.
Don’t fold corners of the page to save your place. Pick up a bookmark on your library day or use a scrap of paper.
Make sure your hands are clean before you read. Your book is shared with hundreds of students and we want everyone to be able to enjoy it.
Water and books don’t mix! We think it‘s a great idea to have a water bottle at school but make sure to empty it before putting it in your backpack.
Tell Mrs. Robertson or Mrs. Jarvi if you notice any damage to your book. This could include tears, contact with food or water, pages falling out or a broken spine. In many cases we can fix whatever is wrong if it’s brought to our attention. If you return a book that is damaged beyond repair, we will ask your family to pay for a replacement.
We’re looking forward to a great year in the library. Please come and talk to us if you have any questions or if you need a suggestion for a good book!
Our overdue policy:
You are not able to check out any materials if you have an overdue item.
1 time overdue – Verbal reminder (Oops! slip for kindergartners).
2 times overdue – A note sent home. If you return the note, signed by a parent, you may resume checking out while you look for your misplaced book.
3 times overdue – An email sent home. If a parent sends a reply you may resume checking out while you look for your misplaced book. 4 or more times overdue – Mrs. Robertson or Mrs. Jarvi will work with you on a plan to get your book returned so you’re able to check out a new one.
If you’re still missing any item by the end of the school year, we will ask your family to pay for a replacement.
