Most auditions will be taken care of in class with voice checks, but if you're not currently in choir you will need to speak with Miss Sanders to arrange a time to audition. In general, the process includes:
Range check to see how high and how low you can sing and determine voicing (Soprano, Alto, Tenor Bass, etc.)
Sight-reading a small selection of music, preferably in solfege. If you need to brush up on this, there are lots of videos on YouTube that can help
[Maybe] Singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" or "Happy Birthday" so I can tell you're able to sing a melody with accurate pitch - I don't always have students do this, only if I'm not really familiar with their voice
Harmonic hearing to test your listening skills (primarily for 8th/9th grade) - after hearing 2 notes played simultaneously on the piano, the student sings either the higher or lower pitch, depending on which one the teacher asks for
Melodic recall to test your listening skills (primarily for 8th/9th grade) - after listening to a 5-note melody, the student echos the melody back to the teacher on their preferred syllable
Singing up and down the solfege scale using hand signs (primarily for 7th grade)
