State Altruistic Projects for this Biennium
Nebraska Alpha Delta Kappa supports two focus projects each biennium. Carolyn Scott Rainbow House is the first and annual project. Angels Among us is our second project. They provide support, comfort and hope to families battling pediatric cancer.
The Carolyn Scott Rainbow House provides convenient lodging, compassionate support and “a home away from home” to thousands of parents and family members of children receiving services at the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center who live 60 miles or more from Omaha. Families enjoy private rooms, gathering spaces to visit and unwind, and a large common dining room. There is no formal charge to stay at the Rainbow House and true to Children’s mission; no one is turned away if they are not able to pay.
The Alpha Delta Kappa Zeta Chapter located in Omaha bakes cookies once a week at the Rainbow House. The time and days vary depending on who is doing the baking. Once, the Zeta members brought the cookies and everything to decorate them. They then helped some of the families decorate the cookies. Zeta members also donate a dinner each month.Pictured on the left is Kay Ogle of Zeta Chapter.
