IB Unit 4 - "How the world works"

Central idea:

- Changes in the weather impact our world

The fourth IB Unit of the school year is all about weather and climate.

These are the lines of inquiry:

- Factors that affect Earth's weather

- World climate zones and their impact on people

- Human impact on weather

Final assessment of this IB-Unit: Research report coinciding with general weather related topics. Students will chose topic during first English week.

1st English week:

Students are introduced to new IB unit and talk about general weather related topics as well as severe weather phenomenons such as tornadoes, blizzards, hurricanes, monsoons, typhoons, floods, droughts, climate changes, etc.). Students also learn how to do a research report.

Goal of this week: Students chose their topic and know how to write a research report.

2nd English week:

Students create a "Mind Map" of questions about their chosen topic and research these questions.

Goal of this week: Students are done with the research and start to write their report.

3rd English week:

Students finalize their report and are ready to present by Thursday.

Goal of this week: Presentation of their research report to the class.
